Cx_Freeze and PYC / PYD Files

I am using cx_Freeze to freeze my python program. When cx_Freeze starts, a bunch of PYD files are created, the entire chain of PYC files is placed in an archive called library.zip, and there are also several DLL files there.

Can someone tell me the difference between PYC and PYD files? What is the reason for PYD files missing from library.zip? Can I also put PYD files in an archive?

Thank.

.PYC files .py files that have been compiled into bytecode.
