Is it possible to cache the asp page on the server side?

Question

Suppose you have a large complex index page showing news and more. This will not change very often. Can you somehow cache it on the server, so that the requests do not force the server to dynamically generate the entire page every time someone visits it? Or does ASP.NET do this automatically?

If so, how do you know if something has changed?
