Simple photo viewer

I am completely new to this. I am trying to make a simple photo viewer using javascript or something is easy to change.
I just want the next and previous. to take you between photos. Click next and next photo exhibit. Just so simple. I have a flash version, but I would like to avoid using flash. I do this a long way by creating several pages, one for each photo and a button that repeats. I know there must be a better way, but I just can't figure it out. Please, help

Firstly, using jQuery will make life a lot easier (after you move on to a short learning curve).

jQuery Cycle lets you create slide shows that rotate between different images.

Lightbox jQuery (and there are many other options ) will allow the user to click on the image and fill the screen.
