My local developers and I recently upgraded the machines to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Some of us see a new error that we never saw when creating solutions in Visual Studio (happens in 2008 and 2010):
Error creating Win32 resource: the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
It always points to some temporary file in our output folder, for example:
MyProject \ OBJ \ Debug \ CSC5123.tmp
This happens about once every four or so. Then we try to run the exact same build again, and it will usually succeed. In some cases, however, he will fail again in the same project, and in the same cases he will fail in another project. There really is no rhyme or reason. But this is very unpleasant, especially when this does not happen until the assembly works for about 20 seconds.
This also does not happen to all our employees. This happens with about one in four developers. For one, this happens in approximately one of the four assemblies, but for the other three it never happens.
Oh, and I mentioned that we all use machines made from the same image? :)
Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide.
