RFC for remote call transaction in SAP

How do I invoke an SAP report (e.g. RSPARAM) using JCo?

Which RFC can be used to remotely invoke transaction SA38 with RSPARAM (etc) as a parameter, and then return the results for further work?

The RFC is designed to call function modules, not programs. You can use some universal functional module to run the report, but since you usually want to process the results of the program, and the program does not know that it is designed to present its results in a machine-readable way, you probably will not be too far away. What exactly are you trying to do?

With the almost endless possible outcomes of a transaction invocation, I don't think there is an RFC to perform such an operation and return a result. What will be the result if ALV is displayed, or if the program is waiting for several interactions?
