We are a small team that is starting to use TortiseSVN to manage our web projects. I'm just wondering what is the best way to manage web projects in Subversion. As you know, a web solution consists of a .sln file as well as all .aspx files.
Well, we noticed when we right-click on the solution, and we select "Add selected projects to the subversive." He offers me to indicate where to store the .sln file. So I give it some way, for example svn: // serverName / CIS / MyWebSiteProject. Cool just put the .sln file ... so I thought how it was going to store .aspx files.
Within a second I had a second invitation, I thought it was cool, it tells me the .aspx pages. So I tried to give it the path svn: // server_name / CIS / MyWebSiteProject / ASPX_Files, but it returns with an error message. I can not put this folder in this path. I really need to go beyond the MyWebSiteProject folder.
Not a bad reason, now I have 2 folders with the .sln folder, and the other with all the .aspx pages, and these folders are sitting on:
- (sln file): SVN: // server_name / CIS / MyWebSiteProject
- (aspx files): SVN: // server_name / cis / myWebSitePages
This is really not an ideal reason why I am sitting in the root of the CIS with 2 folders for really one solution. Now, when I try to check the project, I have to check both folders.
