Import old mysql data folder

After reinstallation, all old data is still displayed inside the MySQL / data folder, but is not actually loaded into the database.

Is there a way for MySQL to look at this data folder and / or reimport the old folders that it had from a previous installation?

[Some data has been changed since the last backup / export — partly my mistake — so I prefer to recognize folders rather than re-import SQL files.]
