Alt-tab web design view

I'm thinking of developing a website that has several related services. For each user action in the service, some calculations will be performed in each of the other services.

I want to display the service in action (selected by the user) in the middle of the page in the enlarged mode, and the rest of the services as small (shortened) versions in the enlarged mode.

The services that are shown in the abbreviated version should actually show what is happening in this service at runtime, as if it were the selected service. A close coincidence with similar behavior that I know is in Reliance BigTV, where all the small images of all channels will continue, and we can choose the one we want to watch. Selecting one image, it will become large and take up the screen.

Please let me know if I can do something like this with css, html, ajax and php.

You can minimize this question to "is it possible to show the status of server processes in a browser on the client side?"

Current approaches to this will include polling the server for updates using an AJAX call or using the " Comet " approach for engineers pushing from server to client.
