Ajax loading cannot handle a JSON response or pops up a loading popup

Question

I am using the AJAX plugin from Andris Valums:

It works fine, except that I cannot send the correct JSON as a response. I set the headers to "Content-Type", "application / json" before sending a JSON encoded response, and in the plugin I say that I expect JSON:

responseType: "json",

This gives me a downloadable popup asking me to download the JSON / REPONSE file. The strange thing is, when I do not answer the correct "Content-Type" in my answer, it works.

Of course, I want to pass the correct type of response, because all my jQuery 1.4 calls depend on the correct JSON.

Has anyone else had the same problem or is there anyone who wants to try this?

I would like to use this plugin, but only when I can return the correct JSON with the right content type
