Will mdi applications die?

I'm just curoius

Does mdi have a bright future?

Change . I mean mdi applications = free floating child windows (thanks Guffa), not a tabbed application.

MDI is marked as dying. MS has been evangelizing against him since some time, and they do not include him in WPF. Their applications stopped using it a long time ago (with the exception of Excel, but I'm sure that they do this for compatibility with previous versions).

It is enough that you have to deal with the management of Windows in the OS.

The future is tabbed and docked .
