I'm not sure I understand your question. GPF is a situation where a processor interrupts an interrupt.

If this happens in user mode, it is thrown into the SEH exception, which, in turn, can be processed by the process. If it is not processed, the process will fail. Means - an ugly message box is displayed, and the process ends (depending on the settings, the process can also be debugged, a debug dump generated, etc.)
