Usernames are evil. How do I do Restful Authentication requires only an email address and password, not a username?

Question

As the title says: how can I use the Restful Authentication plugin with Ruby on Rails. When I want to create a new user, I need to set (invalid name, confusing field) login(= username), email addressand password. However, I want, like Facebook, to require the user to enter only the email address and password, and not the username. People will also be logged in with this email address.

Can anybody help me?
