Passing a DataTable to a stored procedure. Is there a better way?

Can any data file be transferred to SQL Server 2005 or 2008?

I know that the standard path allows you to pass XML to SP. And the datatable can be easily converted to XML somehow for this.

How about passing a .NET object to SP? Is it possible?

I remember hearing about SQL and the CLR, working together in 2008, but I never understood. Maybe this means that you can reference .NET objects in a stored procedure?
