Sockets with Silverlight 4

Question

I need to implement a persistent socket connection from my Silverlight 4 application in a browser to a device on the network.

I need the following:

• Connect to it and keep a permanent connection
• Send and receive data
• Receive any event or notification (or detect it) when the connection is disconnected.

Is this possible with Silverlight 4? If so, can someone point me to some examples? All I find are some attempts to use Silverlight 2.
