How can I use Tier Pricing with custom products? (Magento 1.4+)

How can I use / tune level pricing with custom products? (Magento 1.4 +)

There was an extension for this, but I think it is only for Magento 1.3.

I tried to adjust the levels in my simple products, but they do not appear or are not activated when a product is added to the basket from my product page.

Any help is appreciated! Thank you

I found a simple workaround for this, I have a configurable product with 3 options, e put these three options, visible only for the catalog, and then assign these simple products to categories with a price level, so the customer who wants a quantity discount is just should browse this category and find all available products there.
