Which iPod touch generation should I buy? 2nd or 3rd?

I want to create games for iphone / ipod touch. Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of money, so I can only buy one device. An ipod is cheaper than an iphone, so I decided to buy an ipod touch. But I'm afraid to buy the 3rd generation, because it has more memory, a faster processor, etc. And I think that if I send my application to the AppStore, people with the 2nd generation iPod may have a problem with my application (because I tested it on the 3rd generation). But, on the other hand, I plan to create a game with 3d / cpu requirements, and it would be easy for me to implement it on a device with more computing power ... What should I do in this situation? Any advice is appreciated.

I asked this question a while ago:

What should I use as a development platform, iPod or iPad?

Everyone said to get an iPad.

However! I ended up getting a 3rd generation iPod Touch because the guy who was going to pay me said he wanted me to evolve.

All things being equal, I would choose the lowest platform that you expect from your customers. Thus, you can be sure that even new users can use the application, as well as old ones.
