SEO and dynamic HTML switching to JavaScript

just wondering if anyone knows about using javascript to install html for new content, and not for linking to new pages, if this is a bad idea at all or if this is a little painful for SEO (for which it's new)

Basically, the home page displays this content and links to similar contact pages and more, just change the body content to what will usually be a separate html page. my OCD type bothers me when pages reload and either somehow mask the background or its offset, so I wanted to know if creating such sites was a bad idea or something else -

I suppose at least I could create duplicate / hidden pages for SEO purposes

usually for good SEO, you need to have the maximum pages you can, and then if you want to use javascript to load, use ajax unobtrusive.

How you describe it is a bad idea. The right methodology is to use progressive improvement : you develop javascript for users with disabilities (such as search bots), and then use javascript to load ajax. Thus, most users will benefit from an improved user interface, preventing others from accessing your data.

(<a href="products.php">products</a>) javascript (, jquery) :

$('#nav a').bind('click',function(){
     $('#content').load($(this).attr('href'));
     return false;
});
