JQUERY Highlight effect, color control Start & End

Question

I have the following:

$(".notifycell_email_dailydigest").effect('highlight');

The item I want to highlight is on a gray background. The problem is that the backlight goes from yellow to white, and this ugly slow pause at the end on white makes the animation terrible.

How can I change highlighy to start with yellow but ending in gray so that it matches the background?
