AHAH self-tuning without full page load

Question

I wrote some modal function blocks that load HTML into fragments in the DOM. This includes forms with support for AHAH.

I got to the AHAH settings and can reinitialize:

jQuery.extend( Drupal.settings, response.setting );

I can also reinitialize:

Drupal.attachBehaviors( container );

I even guaranteed that ahah.js always loads on the main page.

All this seems insufficient to make it work. Does anyone know what else I need to do?
