Unable to log in: an error occurred while sending a direct message or receiving a response

Question

I cannot log in to my account using my OpenID josh.gitlin.namein StackOverflow or Meta. The error message that I get after entering my OpenID on the login page and clicking "Login":

Failed to login with your OpenID Provider:

Error sending direct message or receiving response

My alternate OpenID hmblprogrammer.pip.verisignlabs.comdoesn't work either. Can I try something? (And is there a way that this question may be related to my account, although I am not registered?)
