SQL Express as the main database

Question

Does anyone use SQL Express 2008 R2 in a production environment?

I consider hosting Windows VPS as a server for the client software product that I developed.

Clients connect to the server, send their data to the service running on the server, and the service updates the database.

I am trying to reduce costs, and although I have a license for SQL Developer, I obviously cannot use this in a production environment.

It would be wise / possible to use SQL Express 2008, and if so, why / why?
