I am currently creating an Excel 2003 application that requires a terribly complex form and I am concerned about the number of controls. It currently has 154 controls (calculated using Me.Controls.Count- it should be accurate, right?), But probably only about a third are completed. The workflow is really suitable for one form, but I think I can separate it if I really need to.
I see evidence on a Google search that VB6 (usually VBA) has a hard limit of 254 controls on the form. However, I created a dummy form with over 1200 controls that were still loaded and seemed to work very well.
I had some βout of memoryβ errors when trying to add certain combinations of controls, although, for example, 800 buttons and 150 shortcuts, which made me think that the memory requirements of each type of control could affect any limit.
Does anyone have information that could help make sure that I or, more importantly, other users with different environments do not encounter memory problems with such a large form?
