Services \ Remote Service

Sorry for the newbie question .. but "Service" from it defenision means the same as "Remote service" in Android?

and if not, what is the difference between the two?

A Serviceis an Android component. Local Serviceis one that is used in-process by other components of the application (for example, one or more Activities). Remote Serviceis one that provides an interface through AIDL and therefore can be used by other applications across process boundaries.
