How to protect applications?

My boss gave me the task of finding how a web application developed in .NET can be protected. According to the agreement, the products developed in our company are an asset of the company, and even non-developers can get access to the code. But my boss still wants to know how he can protect the products if the developer steals the code and tries to run it from his home?
