File Protection in Adobe AIR (Flex)

Is it possible to download a file in an AIR application, save it to the user system and restrict access to files by applications other than those in which it was downloaded?

Of course, not easy to do on Windows. You may be lucky with content encryption.

Encryption is really probably the way to go. AIR has a convenient encrypted local storage that should simplify this approach for you:
