Best cross-platform solution for a network server?

im starting a new project and for the first time I want to be cross-platform. But my project will be difficult: a listening server, kryptons, etc. Etc. So I was wondering what is the best solution for cross-platform development (OpenSSL, not MSCrypto, etc.). What would be easy to write with VS2010 (yes RC). The language is still not specified (it depends on the witch, it would be easier for us), but im tends to Visual C ++.

In cross-platform, I mean compiling Windows / generic unix.

Qt4 is a complete cross-platform framework, including a very powerful socket library. also Boost.Asio http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_42_0/libs/libraries.htm .

The Poco C ++ library may be what you are looking for.
