C # Streaming Process - Datastream, XML and datagrid

I am looking for some tips / suggestions on how to set up the workflow of a small Im building application. When the application is launched, the datagrid will be populated through an XML file. After starting the application will receive a data stream, which, I hope, will update the file and datagrid.

So, it’s curious that you suggest how to tune the workflow (i.e. to split the data from the data stream and at the same time fill the file and the grid, or will you suggest to fill the XML file first and set the timer so that the grid reads the file?) Im really looking for optimal performance .
