Notification framework for java

Question

I am developing a web application (java + jsp) that can send notifications to users. The user can subscribe to several events generated by the application, and can choose to receive messages related to these events through several channels (e-mail, SMS, growl ?, messenger); possibly different messages on different channels; perhaps a daily digest of messages. Everything must be user configured. Is there any framework that deals with this?

Rmarimon, check out the Fuel9 Boomerang Alert Framework. With some basic SQL skills, you can quickly develop dynamic notifications (email, twitter, fax, etc.). Good luck

Check out the Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS). It was just released (in beta). It looks pretty cool.
