ASP.NET Where can I write without changing permissions?

Question

Where can I write without changing site permissions? I need to save a value on the server that will remain when all sessions are closed, and can be re-read when a new session starts. I need to make sure that no rights to the site need to be changed so that the location can be recorded by anonymous users and any authenticated user.

Is there such a place?

Like everyone else, it depends on whether the database is available to you or whether volatile stores such as Profile, session, viewstate or cache will be available.

If you're looking for a place to write files, then consider sandbox storage, which is similar to a sandboxed file system.
