Cabal: error message / missing documentation

So, I recently installed cabal (from the default binary file ArchLinux). Then I tried updating cabal as a user:

cabal update Cabal --user --prefix = $ USER
Dependency resolution ...
cabal: fromFlag NoFlag. Using fromFlagOrDefault

What I have already done:

  • Error message failed. Turned up the source of the quote and a little more.
  • Looked at haskell-wiki on cabal-install.
  • Looked at this manual.

So basically I'm wondering:

  • What happens with the error message?
  • Can someone point me towards a textbook in bondage?

From user tlo :

The global configuration file for cabal-install is ~ / .cabal / config. If you do not have this file, cabal will create it for you on the first call the update for the cable.

I deleted my configuration, started it cabal update, and everything was fine.
