Generalization arrows

Should generalization arrows be strictly open in the class diagram, or is there an acceptable limit on the style of these arrows?

Open arrows are used along with the dashed / dashed line to represent dependencies.

I can't think of a standard way to use them with a regular line.

Also, as Martin Fowler clearly points out in UML Distilled , UML is just a designation. If the people who will read your charts know that open arrow = closed arrow, then feel free to use it. There is no rigor in UML.
