Maximum heap space limits in java

Question

I have a program that requires a lot of memory and wants to set the maximum heap space to 6024 MB. Java gives me an error:

Invalid maximum heap size: -Xmx6024m
The specified size exceeds the maximum representable size.

Is there a workaround?
