Performance issues when web.config is really huge

Does this have any significant performance / memory impact if my web.config is really huge (say 1000+ entries in <appSettings>)? Is it a good idea to support another custom xml configuration file for all the business specific parameters for my application? Thank.

The web.config file is usually read only once and the information is cached, so I don’t think it will have any kind of performance problem.
