Saving secret keys in iPhone sources and project resources

Question

Does the secret keys (internal passwords, etc.) protect the iPhone source code and project resources (for example, plist files)?

Obviously, nothing is 100% safe, but is it easy to extract this information from the installed application?

How do you recommend storing these keys for use in the source code?

Just in case, this question does not concern the storage of user passwords.
