Why not use GDI + from ASP.NET

Question

I was told that using GDI + from ASP.NET is dangerous and undefined.

Is it because there is no guarantee of the device context? Can someone explain?

What are some of the alternatives?

Windows Service and ASP.NET! So maybe a regular ASP.NET application is fine? But why?
