Access 2007: Unrecognized Database Format

My client has an Access 2007 file (accdb). It is stored in SharePoint, and there are three users who check this, make updates, and check it. One user is in Windows 7, the other is in Vista, the third is in Vista or XP (my client was not sure).

There are no related tables, and this is always used by only one user at a time.

I am told that user 7 spent several hours adding data and then publishing it to SharePoint. Now, any use that tries to read data gets into the "Unrecognized database format" error. They sent me a copy, and I get the same. This is one specific table (the most important, of course) that does this when trying to open; all other objects (queries, forms, etc.) open normally, with the exception of those that rely on the table.

Trying to be compact and fix it gives the error "The Microsoft Office Access database engine could not find the object" tbl_TableName. Make sure that the object exists and you entered its name and path name correctly. " I also tried importing into a new accdb file and got the same "Error in unrecognized database format".

I suspect that it is completely damaged, but my client is berserk. If there are no fixes for this, what about the access recovery programs I saw during Googling? They work? Have a recommendation?

Have you tried importing to mdb format? may go down, but it wonโ€™t hit.
