As always, disable hl-line mode, i.e. Globally

I am using Cocoa Emacs 23.1.91 and I want hl-line mode to always be turned off, since I do not like to use it. I can disable it on the buffer via Mx hl-line-mode, but this is tedious. Any help is appreciated!

thank

if you enable this mode in mode (I'm sure you will have to request it explicitly), you can always add this to your .emacs

(add-hook 'ruby-mode-hook
  (lambda()
    (hl-line-mode -1)
    (global-hl-line-mode -1))
  't
)

as the last line of the configuration. 'timportant, as it tells emacs to add this hook to the end of all mode hooks

If you want it to always be disabled, it is best to add this line to your .emacs:

(global-hl-line-mode -1)

M-x global-hl-line-mode

:

global-hl-line-mode is the interactive compiled Lisp function in `hl-line.el '. (global-hl-line-mode and optional ARG)

Global minor mode to highlight a line about a point in the current window. Use ARG to enable Global-Hl-Line mode, if ARG is positive, otherwise off.

In Global-Hl-Line mode, the global-hl-line-unhighlight' and global-hl-line-highlight 'on pre-command-hook' andpost-command-hook' functions are used .
