Is it good to use Django 1.1 in App Engine?

We are planning to create a web application based on the Google App Engine platform . Is it good to use the Django 1.1 platform to develop Google App Engine applications?

If not, could you offer me the best option, which has good study guides and a training resource?

Yes, Django 1.1 is well supported in the Google App Engine. You will need to make your own installation locally to include it in the GAE SDK, but it already exists for you on the App Engine production servers, see Documents - just do

import os
os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'settings'

from google.appengine.dist import use_library
use_library('django', '1.1')

You can also take a look at the Kay Framework . It is based on Django with middleware, etc. It focuses solely on the App Engine and uses Werkzeug and Jinja2 . I played with him and everything works. I settled on the already mentioned Tipfy framework. Also comes with Jinja2 (and Mako , it's your choice), it's lightweight and easy to understand.
