Which book should I read as an alternative to First Servlets and JSPs?

I am looking for another book next to Head First Servlets and JSP . The book "Head One" really did not like me, since it was too big a theory and questions / goals of the exam.

I look something like RailSpace: building a social networking site with Ruby on Rails . Something related to the fact that I write a lot of code and “wake me up” for a real web application project. It may take a lot, but you will get my referral :) The answers are much appreciated.
