Float PPM image file format?

I found a PPM image with a heading starting with PF (instead of the standard captions P6, P5, P4, ...). The permission number is stored in floating point ( -1,000 ). For information on how this was done, no comments.

Due to permission, I got that each pixel consists of 12 bytes (4 bytes per component) ... I assume that they are floating point or integer numbers.

The problem is that I cannot get a clear image. Has someone already found such images?

Perhaps look at the open source FreeImage that might help you. Since it has wrappers for different languages, it looks like a decent shot at this, since you did not specify the specifics of the programming language, I thought that this could be a neutral solution for you ...
