CppUnit requires more work than necessary, especially for the work needed to create a new test case. The original author, Michael Perce, published a simplified structure that was used as the basis for others. I used UnitTest ++ and I am very interested in googletest . Any of them will allow you to create a new test case without the need to declare it and manually add it to the set; frameworks do it for you.
