Password Protected Coldfusion RSS Feeds

Question

I'm interested in a password that protects my applications. RSS feeds. Therefore, when you download the URL of an RSS feed in a browser, a login and password are requested in the default browser dialog box.

Any tutorials or tips on how to make this work safely? 37 Signals have this behavior in their web applications.
