Benchmark Test Software, Windows and Linux / Ubuntu

Just wondering if there is any test software that I can download that will work on both Windows (preferred Windows 7) and Linux (Ubuntu 9.10)? I have a completely new system, and I would like to run some standard tests with Ubuntu, as well as with Windows 7. Passmark performance test works only under Windows.

It depends a lot on your metric. "At a time when" we were more worried about the performance of integers and floating point, the dhrystone test was popular . He will check the combination of "ecompiler + os", but will not say anything about graphics, disk or other aspects.

Wikipedia also has a number of other open source tests that you could try.

Geekbench runs on Windows and Linux (in addition to Mac OS X and Solaris).
