I work with a programmer who does not want me to touch his database ...

I would like to work with a database, and not hard code my content, but I do not want the site performance to suffer.

Is it bad practice to query two different databases on the same page?

If this is not a problem, is there a limit on the number of databases that you can query per page?

All that is considered bad practice is to have multiple databases per page, you just need a good reason for this.

I regularly end up in the assessment database and the reference database, as the client lives in Texas and the nearest office is 150 miles away.
