I am trying to understand the relationship between the Intel Atom Developer Program (IADP) and a new OS called MeeGo.
IADP allows me to create applications that run on both MeeGo and Windows devices if the device is based on an Atom processor. IADP applications are published in an app store called AppUp, which is very similar to the Apple App Store.
The MeeGo operating system combines Intel Moblin and Nokia Maemo in one OS. The goal is to make it possible to develop software that will run on Intel-based devices, Nokia devices, as well as devices from other companies. Nokia has its own Ovi store, which will support MeeGo applications.
With an OS-independent operation, the question is, what exactly is an IADP application? Is the IADP app its own beast or is it just a MeeGo app that was limited to run only on Atom powered devices?
Can I recompile the IADP application to work on all MeeGo devices? Sold at an Ovi store?
Intel and Nokia really embarrassed me. Where should I be a developer?
