Why is <table> not suitable for layout, but <div>? for screen users

What is the problem with a tag <table>that doesn’t work <div>for screen reader users? Explain an example.

I think because you can communicate the correct table through audio, but you cannot parse the table used for the layout and speak it intelligently.
