MySQL Error 1205: timed out waiting for lock wait

I am using SQLyog to synchronize a production database with dev db. On 4 tables I get:

Error No. 1205 Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction

An exploration of the network seems to indicate that the transaction has begun, locked tables, but failed. One post said SHOW PROCESSLIST;, but the only processes seem to be my own, through SQLyog.

I also tried restarting MySQL, but that didn't help either.

As a relative newbie to MySQL, I'm stuck: I cannot determine which transaction or process is blocking the tables, and how to clear this situation.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
