I want to create a Google App Engine application; have decent JavaSE / Swing + Javascript / (X) HTML + relational database (SQL)

Can you call me a good place to learn GAE from what I already know? I plan to make a rather complicated application, and I'm not quite sure where to start or how far I need to go (JavaEE?). I would rather hear from someone who already knows what is happening, than start by guessing and stumbling.

So far, the best documentation I have found is official at code.google.com/appengine . One useful JavaEE document is the HttpServlet Spec , as it is the main class for responding to HTTP requests in App Engine. There is a useful apache commons library for downloading files . Since you are not allowed to manipulate files on the server in gae, all your persistence will require some knowledge of the data warehouse, jdo and datanucleus enhancer .

In addition, you may want to use a third-party structure for more productive work. There are many products for various purposes. What application will you develop?
