How can I diagnose problems with Perl getc?

Question

I am having such weird function issues getc. I use getcto get a character from a socket file handler. I need to simulate messaging between a PC and a mobile device. For the first few messages it getcworks fine. But for this getcI could not get anything from the socket. The entire Perl program was blocked until I reset this mobile device. But wirehark shows that the message was sent to the correct port number.

Is there a tool that I can use for what's happening?
