How to check low power consumption on Android

Question

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to simulate low power conditions on Android (i.e. popup notification that happens) on G1.

The adb am command allows you to broadcast intentions, but, I think, maybe not system ones. Anyway,

$ am broadcast -a android.intent.action.BATTERY_LOW
Broadcasting: Intent {act = android.intent.action.BATTERY_LOW}

Does not help.

Any ideas? Do performance tests help?

Device Power in Android Emulator allows you to set the remaining charge.
